This weekend is Local Yarn Store Day - an event created to give knitters and crocheters an excuse to show their local yarn store a little extra love and attention (and sales) which is especially nice during a historically slow time of year for yarn shops. I make it a big party, and you’re invited to the shop this weekend to celebrate Crazy for Ewe. We’ll have balloons, cookies, and free patterns and the Rowan Trunk Show. I hope you will come.

But I also want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who have supported Crazy for Ewe over the years. From Duffy, Mary, and Shelly, who were among the first through my doors back in 2004 to Rita, Ellen, Donna, Megs, and others, who found us more recently, thank you. With every purchase, each of you shows me that Crazy for Ewe is an important part of your lives.

Local yarn stores are the heart and soul of the fiber community. Crazy for Ewe, and the good ones offer a warm and welcoming space where you can connect with like-minded people who share a passion for yarn and all the things you can make with it.

    That goes both ways.

Part of the reason I opened the shop was because I felt very much alone with my knitting. I craved knitting friends as much as I did quality yarn. I had no idea how much Crazy for Ewe would change my life. I've met so many amazing people who share my passion for knitting. I've met so many wonderful people and made lifelong friends.

A local yarn store’s mission is to be not just a place to buy yarn, but a resource of expertise and guidance –a hub of creativity to help its customers keep learning and growing. For my part, seeing the joy and pride on your face when you finish a project or have an Aha! moment, is truly the best part of my job.

So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting Crazy for Ewe. You're not just buying yarn - you're making a difference in our town, our knitting community, and in my life personally. It means a lot. Whether you're a long-time customer or a first-time visitor, you are always welcome here. Let's continue to create something beautiful together.

    Warmly,

    Ellen

I can’t begin to adequately thank you for the enormous change in my knitting since I discovered your shop all those years ago. You have introduced me to fantastic yarn, pointed my towards great patterns and designers, taught me how to improve my knitting in so many ways, convinced me of the benefit of swatching, shown me how to block and seam well… the list goes on and on. You continue to inspire me.

What a beautiful sentiment from your heart! I am the one who’s blessed to have God allow our paths to cross. Miles apart I feel I’ve found a caring teacher and mentor in you and a wonderful community of knitters who welcomed me in and with whom I hope to have found friendships. Each and every day I’m thankful for Crazy for Ewe and for you Ellen, who has given me confidence to do something I have been years trying to learn and the respect for me to teach me with patience, kindness and grace. From my heart, I thank EWE! ❤️
