I remember 20 years ago when I had just opened the shop. Seems like yesterday.  My baby was two years old, and I had calculated how much yarn I needed to sell every day to pay the rent.  It was pretty scary, but as the saying goes,

If you build it, they will come

It is true.  There was Duffy, and Shelly, and Mary who all showed up in the early days, and lots of others.  Nicole was one of my earliest customers. She was twenty something--how much we have all changed!  With the military base, this tends to be somewhat of a transient area, but I am thrilled to still be able to serve those early customers, and so many new ones as well.

I spent a while going over photos from the early days - the days before cell phones had cameras.  I don't even know how I got these photos - must have been some early vintage digital number that took really bad pictures.  But it's not about the pictures, it's about the people in them. It's about the joy and pride on their faces showing their finished garments. It's about the time around the table and the community that has grown here.

That's what makes Crazy for Ewe special, and why it is still going strong after 20 years.  It's you.  You are the reason we're here and the reason we'll stay.  I love serving you, helping you, knowing you.

I hope to be here another 20 years.  Ginni will tell you that in 20 years I'll be younger than she is now, so why  not?  But whatever the next 20 years holes, I'm in.  I hope you are too.

I look forward to seeing you in the shop and around the table. You are always welcome here.

    Warmly,
    Ellen

Such a treat to scroll through the pictures and remember the wonderful times we shared over the years. Being a part of Crazy for Ewe has enhanced my life in so many ways, too many to enumerate. Thank you, Ellen, for giving me this opportunity, and thank you to Mary, Jenny, Nicole, Whitney, Kathy, and Mary Jo for your friendship and knowledge sharing. And, yes, I’m still wearing the same sweaters!

What a fun 20 years it has been! I was so very excited to have a local yarn store so close to me, so I could feel the beautiful yarns I wanted to knit with! Time has flown by, and little did I know then that Ellen would some day ask if I would like to work in the shop with her. What a joy it has been! Looking at all those pictures warms my heart. So much fun and learning we have all had! Now I wonder, how did we ever fit in that first shop? Thank you Ellen for taking that leap!!! And thank you wonderful knitter’s and crocheters that shop at Crazy for Ewe! Hope to see you soon in person or on line!
