Sweater weather? We've been saying it since October, but today it really is -- a cozy, curl up on the couch kind of day full of nothing but knitting and binge watching your favorite shows. What you want right now is Andrea Mowry's gorgeous Weekender sweater. If you're not already wearing it, this is what should be on your needles
A simple shape with clean lines and graphic details, Weekender reminds me of an Eileen Fisher design. It's a sweater that's easy to wear and absolutely appropriate at any occasion.
Mowry has chosen a worsted weight yarn with a light and fluffy texture. I have swatched Sisa, a light and lovely alpaca blend. My first instinct is to do The Weekender in elegant winter white, of course, but it's so similar to my Trace in winter white, that I'm swatching it in this lovely rich cranberry.
All of the Sisa colors are beautiful and richly saturated. Some are slightly heathered, giving them extra dimension. The alpaca makes it soft as a cloud, and a chainette construction makes Sisa bouncy and responsive. It's a pleasure to knit, especially on my Addi Turbos which slip easily between the stitches without any danger of splitting the fiber. Because Sisa is so bouncy, you'll be working on a slightly larger needle to get 18 stitches to 4 inches, so it feels like a super fast knit. The Weekender is exactly what you want in your life and in your wardrobe.
The Weekender is intended to be worn with 10" of positive ease, so Mowry has given "to fit bust" sizing. If you are in between sizes, I would round up to the next size.
What color speaks to you? Check out all of the Sisa colors here. You can order on line, or stop in the shop and pick it up. The pattern you can order directly on Ravelry, or we you can add it to your yarn purchase and we'll send it to your email and add it to your Ravelry account.
Happy knitting, and stay cozy!
