Discover the Magic of Noro's New Summer Yarns: Kompeito and Natsumeki

Summer is just around the corner, and I couldn't be more excited to introduce you to Noro's latest lightweight yarns that perfectly capture the essence of the season. Whether you're dreaming of delicate shawls, luxurious scarves, or breezy tops, Noro's new yarns, Kompeito and Natsumeki, offer endless possibilities for your summer knitting projects.

Kompeito: A Blend of Elegance and Charm

Noro's Kompeito yarn is a smooth blend of cotton, silk, and polyamide, with a wonderful hand and a lovely soft palette. Named after the Japanese word for "rock candy," Kompeito combines the softness of cotton and the luster of silk, and the strength and moisture wicking qualities of polyamide to produce a yarn that's not only beautiful, but functional and comfortable to wear even when it's hot hot hot.

    Yarn Details:

    • Weight: DK/Sport
    • Fiber Content: 35% Cotton, 35% Silk, 30% Polyamide
    • Gauge: 21-24 stitches over 4 inches
    • Yardage: Each generous 150-gram skein contains 492 yards

Although not technically a solid or a striping yarn, Kompeito has enough color play to give you the exciting knitting experience you expect from Noro.  What sets Kompeito apart from other Noro yarns is its subtle tweedy effect and soft gradient. Unlike the strong color striping effect Noro is known for, Kompeito offers a more understated elegance with its vibrant colors and delicate variations. This makes it perfect for knitting lace patterns or textured stitches, ensuring that each project is a work of art.

Natsumeki: Embracing the Spirit of Summer

Noro's Natsumeki yarn is also a blend of  cotton, with a healthy dose of silk, and a splash of polyamide, it is a traditional Noro striping yarn that is honestly, the essence of summer. Named after the Japanese word for "summer is in the air," Natsumeki reminds me of summer flower pots and hanging flower baskets overflowing with exuberant blossoms layering and cascading in a happy tangle of color.  Lightweight and comfortable, Natsumeki is also perfect for summer friendly projects.
