This week kicks off the glitzy and glamorous holiday season. Festive events call for things a little more sparkly than you might wear other times of the year. Dressing up for parties is fun, but it can be a challenge. Guys are lucky - they can wear the same boring thing to every event and no one cares. Who even looks at what the guys are wearing anyway?
But heaven forbid a woman wear the same outfit two nights in a row. In all honesty, I don't like to wear the same thing over and over again, but I don't have the time or money to buy a different show-stopping outfit for every occasion every year. So, here's my secret. I have one black dress that I love and dozens of spectacular accessories! A gorgeous wrap or glittery scarf is all anyone ever notices, so you can wear the same basic outfit to lots of events. That's why I am so excited about the Prism Trunk show this week for First Friday.
Prism Yarns is all about tasteful glitz and elegant glamour. Fiber artist and Prism Yarns owner, Artist Laura Bryant has a deft hand. She knows how to do color and sparkle without being garish. Her things are over the top but never overdone.
Prism Yarns have just enough sparkle and fun texture to be perfect for festive wraps and accessories. They're so beautiful on their own that all you have to do is simple knitting. No fancy stitch work needed. My first introduction to Prism Yarns was their amazing "Stuff." Stuff is literally art in a skein. Dozens of different yarns carefully selected and hand-painted are individually tied to create a gorgeous piece of fiber art. Actually, you don't even need to knit it because it's so beautiful just in the skein. But when you do knit it, be prepared for people to stop you in the street and comment. It's that striking!
Because of the holiday last week, I didn't really unpack the trunk show, but I did rummage through it a bit, and each skein of Stuff was more beautiful than the last. Each sample made me say, "Oh, this is what I want to knit!" You'll feel the same way too! Join us First Friday to kick off the holiday season in style. Come see all the samples and get started on some accessories that make you feel glamorous. The feeling will last, but these yarns won't, so mark your calendar, because you don't want to miss out.
I look forward to seeing you at the trunk show First Friday, or just around the table. You are always welcome here.
Ellen
