Beginning Knitting Beginning knitting lessons are one of our favorite things at Crazy for Ewe. We love to share our passion for knitting, and we want to make it easy for you to join in. What we’ve found is that your life is busy, and we need to be flexible. Individual private lessons work best for most of our students’ busy schedules. Private lessons are the same price per person as group lessons, and they are scheduled at your convenience and move at your pace. It only takes about half an hour to get started—what are you waiting for!? Private lessons are $20/person, 3 lessons for $50
We’re happy to schedule a small group lesson for you and your friends as well—same price per person—each session is proportionally longer. |

Back in the summer when we were jotting down notes and making vague plans for the fall, it all seemed so far away. Distracted by the whirlwind that is my life, I was shocked to see that September starts this week. All that stuff we have had on the calendar is happening NOW. I’m excited—a little overwhelmed, but excited. The first thing on the list of stuff I’m jazzed about is our First Friday project—a giant cowl. We’re not talking about a modified turtleneck here; we’re talking about a big thick one that wraps generously around your neck twice with room to spare. Only now, in 2010, they’re called eternity scarves. It’s a great look, and Friday we’re doing a big chunky one like those shown at right (from Michael Kors). It’ll be a great thing for yourself, but you can bet even those hard-to-knit-for teen-aged girls in your life will want one too. Our first fall Fit and Finish with the Newport Cardigan begins this weekend in La Plata and next weekend in Leonardtown. This class meets every other Saturday for 6 weeks so you can definitely finish this great little sweater. Sock knitting also begins this weekend at both shops. The La Plata section is full, but there are still a couple more slots in Leonardtown. Call the Leonardtown shop to register. Folks have asked for a more structured way to get help with their knitting, so welcome Knit Assist. Knit Assist is a relaxed class where you can get help on any and all your project woes. Our teachers are here to help you fix your mistakes, figure out what you need to do next, and generally keep your project on track. We’ll begin Knit Assist sessions next week available twice a week, and you can come as often as you like. See details below. We’ve shifted the Leonardtown shop hours a bit this fall to try and be more accommodating to our working knitters who struggle to get in on weekdays. Starting this week we’ll be open Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. So come shop after work on Wednesdays and hang with us all evening if you like. The hours at both shops will now be Tuesdays-Saturdays 10-5, Wednesdays till 9 p.m. The Fall Show and Share Brunch is fast approaching—not this weekend, but next weekend. We’ll have much the same menu options as before: Eggplant Napoleon (delicious and healthy) Croque Monsieur (to die for), Salmon fillet, Chicken Crepes, and more. We’ll have more detailed menu choices on the next newsletter. Cost will again be $20 per person, including beverage, dessert, tax, and gratuity. We had a wonderful time at our last show and share—I hope you can join us again. Ellen p.s. Don’t forget—Chris Bylsma is coming in October, and it’ll be here before you know it. She’ll be teaching the Symphony Jacket on Saturday in Leonardtown and the Crayon Box Jacket Sunday in La Plata. Classes will be $110 each. Call the shop to register |

Holy Cowl |
|
As we said above, everyone’s wearing them—we used to call them cowls, but this iteration is called eternity scarves, or infinity scarves. They’re giant loops of fabric in fabulous colors or textures that wrap around your neck a couple of times or simply hang loosely to your belt. This one that we’ll kick off at the First Friday in Leonardtown is knit in an easy one-row pattern on size 11 needles in the beautiful new Borealis yarn from |
